Wills, trusts & estates
Often our Wills, trusts & estates teams are called on in times of emotional upset or concern. You may be involved with dealing with the estate of someone who has recently died, find that you are involved in a dispute in the aftermath of a death in the family , a trustee in need of advice or someone requiring an urgent will or tax advice. Our aim is to handle matters as quickly and efficiently as possible and relieve you of some of the stress that you’re likely to be feeling. Time and time again, our clients comment on the sympathetic and approachable qualities of our team members.
We focus on tax efficient will drafting and regularly deal with the issue of residence and domicile in relation to tax mitigation. We adopt a practical approach to tax planning avoiding the 'tax tail wagging the dog' method. We pride ourselves on ensuring that the client not only understands the recommended strategy but as important, is comfortable with what is proposed whether it is lifetime gifting or tax planning through wills.
We look after both domestic and off-shore clients, advising them on all aspects of wealth management including the creation and maintenance of both UK and off-shore trusts, multi-jurisdictional administration and succession issues.
We advise on and administer estates whether the deceased has left a Will or has died without making one. The estates may be straightforward or complicated involving assets situated in more than one country. Our advice extends beyond administration and we inform our clients where inheritance tax savings may be made through the use of a deed of variation. We have a practical and supportive approach to our clients through the advice we give.
We advise charities, individuals, beneficiaries, dependants, executors and trustees in relation to a wide variety of disputes involving trusts and estates including validity of Wills, claims in relation to inheritance provision, construction of Wills or trusts, disputes between trustees/executors and beneficiaries, recovery of assets, estoppels and undue influence claims.
