Planning

Our planning team fits seamlessly between the firm’s real estate and regeneration teams. Acting for both local authority and developer clients, our planning experts have experience across a wide range of Town and Country Planning matters. They are currently involved in a number of complex matters including developments providing in excess of 2000 homes, mixed used developments and urban regeneration schemes (including issues relating to planning overage, town and village greens, drainage and watercourses).

The team has a specialist understanding of some of the more complex planning issues including the preparation and implementation of Compulsory Purchase Order procedures, the appropriation of land by local authorities and appeals to the Secretary of State and the High Court (including Judicial Review and appeals to Court of Appeal and House of Lords).

Often it is the impact the project has on the surrounding infrastructure which creates most issues. We are well versed in all aspects of Highway Law including the negotiation of highways agreements, highways stopping up/diversion orders, Highway and Bridge licences and Road Traffic Regulation Act procedures.

Our planning team is led by Bill Bidder and assisted by Chris Wark. Bill has extensive experience in high value complex property transactions and is recommended in the Legal 500 Directory 2006. Chris joined the firm recently and his background in local government is invaluable in establishing relationships at all stages of the planning process.

We believe that our approach ensures that our clients get relevant commercial advice to get their project up and running as effectively as possible. To find out how we can help you with your planning matters, please call Bill Bidder or any other member of our planning team.
